CASE OF THE MONTH
Metastatic Adenosquamous Carcinoma

A 66 year old woman presented with abdominal pain. A CT scan showed a mass in the head of the pancreas as well as multiple liver lesions. FNA of a liver lesion revealed metastatic carcinoma with both squamous and glandular differentiation. Immunoperoxidase stains showed that the neoplastic cells were positive for p63 and CK5 and negative for TTF-1, CD15, and Ca19-9. Mucicarmine stain was positive. A diagnosis of metastatic adenosquamous carcinoma was made.
