Submucosal Lipoma

A 59-year-old man has a 2 year history of a tongue lesion. Clinically, the lesion forms an oval, raised lesion which is soft to palpation. Histologic sections show intact mucosa with lobules of mature adipose tissue in the submucosa. There is no atypia or degenerative change. There are no mitoses. A diagnosis of submucosal lipoma is rendered.
