CASE OF THE MONTH
Granular Cell Tumor

A 49-year-old man presented with a subcutaneous nodule in the left back that measured 0.8 x 0.6 cm. Microscopically, this is a well-circumscribed non-encapsulated nodule involving the deep dermis and the subcutis. It is composed of large cells with abundant granular cytoplasm and central small nuclei. The lesional cells are positive for S100 and CD68. The cytoplasmic granules are PAS-positive and diastase-resistant. These findings are characteristic of a granular cell tumor.
This case was graciously submitted by Dr. Limin Yu.
